What Is Reflective Sheeting? Types, Materials, Applications and Selection Guide

Reflective sheeting is a specialized material designed to return incoming light toward its original source. It is widely used on traffic signs, commercial vehicles, road safety equipment, license plates and industrial warning systems.

What Is Reflective Sheeting?

Reflective sheeting, also called retroreflective sheeting or reflective film, is a flexible material containing microscopic optical elements. These optical elements may include glass beads, encapsulated lenses, microprisms or other high-efficiency prismatic structures.

Unlike an ordinary reflective surface, which may scatter light in several directions, retroreflective sheeting is engineered to send a large portion of the light back toward the source.
